Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Dial *#06#: if an EID number shows, it supports eSIM.
Apple
iPhone XR, XS, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 (all models), SE (2020 and later)
iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau generally lack eSIM.
Samsung
Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25, Note 20, Z Flip and Z Fold (all), A54, A55, A35
Some carrier or regional models ship without eSIM: check with *#06#.
Pixel 3 and later (except Pixel 3a bought in some regions)
Others
Motorola Edge and Razr (2022+), Xiaomi 13/14/15, OnePlus 11+, Oppo Find X5+, Huawei P40/Mate 40 Pro

If your phone came with a carrier contract, ask the carrier to unlock it before you travel.
